Carla Bruni-Sarkozy and Woody Allen to make film in summer
French government security agents are preparing to protect a movie set as France’s first lady, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, is to act in a film by US director Woody Allen, the weekly Le Point reported Thursday. Shooting of the still-untitled movie is to begin in July in Paris. Bruni-Sarkozy, who was a top model and has become a pop singer, will appear in the film with Indian actress Freida Pinto of Slumdog Millionaire fame.
The 74-year-old Allen lobbied hard to convince Bruni-Sarkozy to work with him, and said that it was his dream to make her a star.
“I’m sure she would be wonderful,” he said in November. “She has charisma and she performs, so she’s not unknown to an audience, and I would cast her in many different ways.”
After saying yes to Allen, Bruni-Sarkozy said she had no idea what her role would be, but that she did not want to miss the chance to work with him.
“Perhaps I will be completely hopeless, but I can’t miss an opportunity like this one,” she said “When I’m a grandmother I’d like to be able to say I made a film with Woody Allen.”
