Bruno Sialelli Exits Lanvin After Four Years As Creative Director
Bruno Sialelli has stepped down as Creative Director of the oldest French luxury fashion house Lanvin.
Sialelli was appointed Lanvin’s creative director in January 2019 after Olivier Lapidus left in March 2018 and was it’s fourth designer in four years.
‘I am deeply proud of what we have achieved at Lanvin over the past four years and wish to thank Lanvin and my team who through their unique talents and dedication have accompanied me in this great adventure,’ Sialelli said in a statement to WWD.
‘We are grateful to Bruno for his passion and commitment to the house and wish him the best as his creative journey continues,’ Siddhartha Shukla, deputy general manager of Lanvin added.
Raised in Marseille, France, he studied at prestigious fashion school Studio Bercot in Paris and had been working in the fashion industry since 15, first as an intern at the Opera de Marseille. At 17, he secured a one-season internship at Christian Lacroix which was followed by stints at Swedish denim company Acne Studio, Paco Rabanne and Balenciaga in their womenswear division. Later he joined Spanish fashion house Loewe, where he served as the head of menswear for about two and a half years under Jonathan Anderson.
Lanvin’s current owners, Chinese conglomerate Fosun International who own Italian men’s wear brand Caruso, Austrian hosiery brand Wolford and American knitwear company St. John had purchased a majority stake in the brand in February 2018. The label which was founded by Jeanne Lanvin in 1899 is set to undergo a major restructuring in its creative direction with an emphasis on leather goods and accessories, and the establishment of ‘Lanvin Lab’ that would invite proven and rising international talents for ‘creative partnerships.’
Sialelli’s next move is not known at this moment. In the coming weeks, Lanvin is expected to announce it’s first guest talent for its Lanvin Lab.
