Chanel launches its 22 Bag with Campaign featuring Margaret Qualley, Lily-Rose Depp, and Whitney Peak
French luxury fashion house Chanel has tapped Actresses Margaret Qualley, Lily-Rose Depp, and Whitney Peak as the faces of its new 22 Bag.
The Chanel ambassadors spotlight the house’s signature silhouette through a series of images and films shot and directed by Inez & Vinoodh.
A nod to each woman and their personalities, each actor was captured in their element between Los Angeles, Palm Springs, and New York. Whitney Peak is seen walking around New York between urban wanderings and trips out with friends. Margaret Qualley escapes to the desert, the ideal setting for a reunion with nature echoing her childhood in a ranch in Montana, while Lily-Rose Depp personifies the privilege of youth, lounging to the rays of a setting sun in Los Angeles.
‘We were given the opportunity to create three completely different stories with three completely different women and set out to create three stories that would show a lesser known side of each woman. Researching and diving into their worlds was very inspiring for us,’ said the photographic duo Inez & Vinoodh.
‘I love the CHANEL 22 bag. I love it, I love it, I love it! It’s so great because it’s incredibly sensible. Gabrielle Chanel was all about practicality and this is a practical CHANEL bag for 2022, it even fits a laptop! The perfect day with my CHANEL 22 bag would be one spent with my loved ones, a day with no commitments but hopefully lots of chatting, cuddling, walking, eating and laughing,’ said Margaret Qualley.
‘These images are, for me, an ode to the marriage between my identities as a Parisian and a Los Angeleno. I’ve known Inez & Vinoodh for a few years now and so, knowing me, I think they did a beautiful job at creating scenes and scenarios that help my personality shine through. They were also very inspired by Veronica Lake for the shoot, someone who’s inspired me my whole life,’ said Lily-Rose Depp.
‘This might be my favorite CHANEL bag so far. I’m a huge fan of functional pieces and tend to travel with my life in my bag so they vary in size and color to allow for flexibility depending on what the day holds,’ said Whitney Peak.

Imagined by Virginie Viard, its name refers to the year of its creation: 2022. The bag is made from an extremely supple yet resistant quilted leather, and features a metal chain interlaced with leather and medallion with an openwork double C, a magnetic button, purse-like drawstrings, an inside zipped pocket and a removable pouch. The letters of CHANEL are composed of gold or lacquered metal, while the bag comes in three sizes (small, medium and large) and as a backpack version. The color palette ranges from navy blue, purple, and two shades of pink, white and black.
