Moncler Donates 10 Million Euros to help fight Coronavirus
Following on LVMH producing free hand sanitizer gel for French hospitals, Italian luxury label Moncler has announced that it will donate 10 million euros to help fight Coronavirus.
The donation will go towards the construction of a 20,000 square meter hospital with a capacity of up to 400 intensive care units in the ex Fiera Milano area so as to support the Italian medical health care system, which is under severe strain.
‘Milan is a city that has given us all an extraordinary time. We cannot and must not abandon it. It is everyone’s duty to give back to the city what it has given us so far,’ said Remo Ruffini, chairman and chief executive of Moncler in an official statement. ‘I have expressed to councilor Giulio Gallera the will to work on this great project from the moment it was hypothesized and now that there are reasonable certainties on the feasibility, we are ready to support it.’
Moncler joins the long list of fashion labels who have pledged their commitment to fighting the virus in response to the coronavirus epidemic. Armani has donated 1.25 million to hospitals in Italy, Italian influencer Chiara Ferragni launched a large-scale fundraising campaign with her husband Fedez, while Dolce & Gabbana made a donation to a study by Italy’s Humanitas University into immune system responses to SARS-CoV-2.
