Each week, we take the time to highlight one of our favorite emerging models. Previously, we profiled Polish beauty Klaudia Celinska and this week we’re turning our attention to Gail Pelizzari. We caught up with the budding Milanese to talk about her career so far, her passion for modeling and her plans for the future.

Have you always wanted to be a model?
Well, when I was a kid my biggest dream was to have a horse and living by riding him all day long around nature. Now I have some ideas but still nothing definitive. I don’t like to define anything I just follow my stream.
How were you scouted?
Well, this is a long story…but I can tell you it was destiny…one day I skipped school and I went to a coffee shop and a photographer approached to me and then she introduced me to my actual agency.
How would you describe yourself as a model in three words?
Down to earth/easy, authentic, introspective (a bit)
Your first modeling job?
I don’t remember exactly but It was probably a Korean campaign.
What is your favorite or most exciting aspect about being a model?
I know everybody says it, but I think the best part is that you get to travel a lot (which I love) and you meet a bunch of new people from different cultures, your mind expands and there’s this independence it gives you.
Is there anyone that you admire as a role model and why?
When I was younger I loved Natalia Vodianova cause she is a really down to earth person and with her earnings she founded a foundation for children with needs in Russia, and I really appreciate her for that and because I feel similar to her in some ways, cause we passed thought difficult family problems as kids (even if for different reasons). I also love Bianca Balti because she is herself and authentic.
What’s been your biggest OMG moment to date?
Uhm mm probably when I got to walk for Gucci as my first ever show or maybe when I shot with Patrick Demarchelier for Vogue Italia with Giulia Maenza and Greta Varlese.
What is your dream shoot/campaign?
I would love to shoot something with little kids, the type of pictures shot by Mario Testino back in the days or Roversi.
Biggest lesson that modeling has taught you?
Staying strong, taking care of myself, and using navigation maps better than anyone else.
What’s the best life advice you’ve ever received?
This is one of my favorite questions. The most precious advice I ever received was said by a really special soul who helped me during difficult times. It was to be my own mother and to listen to my inner voice.
How do you stay in shape?
Well, I have always been thin. Actually, I needed to work on building muscles instead of losing weight like most of the models… I love to eat enough and nourishing whole foods…and I really love to move my body…it clears my mind. I play a lot of sports; horse riding, run, do yoga, and recently I fell in love with surf.
What do you think about fashion? What does it mean to you?
I like fashion when it is authentic when it tells a story when it shows the souls behind things.
How would you describe your style?
I don’t know… but I changed my style a lot in the past few months…before I used to dress with dark colors… but now that I know the peculiar powers of every color and their energies, now I like to use colors that fits my soul, like yellow, white, violet…btw I really like ethnic and Indian style.
if you had to be head to toe in one designer brand for the rest of your life, which would it be?
Jil Sander !!!!!! or Missoni
Denim or leather?
Denim
Heels or flats?
Flats
Vintage or contemporary fashion?
Vintage
What’s been your most indulgent purchase since you became a model?
A Gucci bag, that I regret.
If you were an emoji, which would you be and why?
I would definitely be the ocean wave because I think we should flow like water, always changing and evolving.
When you’re not busy modeling, what are some of your favorite things to do?
Exploring new places, writing reading, biking.
What are you working on now and what do you dream of achieving in the future?
I don’t want to set any kind of ‘goal’, I just want to live 100% in the present, following the flow, enjoying and tasting every single minute of my day.
