Olivier Theyskens is Azzaro’s new artistic director
Olivier Theyskens has been named artistic director of Azzaro
The 43-year-old Franco-Belgian designer has been tapped by the French Fashion House and will lead it’s couture collections, ready-to-wear lines and women’s and men’s accessories.
‘Loris Azzaro left behind a considerable, very inspiring legacy. I am excited, thrilled and honored to have the opportunity of bringing my vision to this legendary, iconoclastic House, for which freedom and pleasure remain ever-as-contemporary founding values. I would like to carry on this atypical universe through my collections while infusing them with my own perspective,’ Theyskens said in a statement.
With a degree from Ecole Superieure des Arts Visuels de la Cambre, Theyskens launched his eponymous label at the end of the 90’s. In 2006 he won the prestigious CFDA International Award. Theyskens hs had stints at Rocha, Nina Ricci (as artistic direction), and Theory. His romanticized gothic aesthetic had led him to develop a cult following. In 2016 he relaunched his line.
Olivier Theyskens Theyskens’ will present his first collection for Azzaro during July’s Haute Couture Fashion Week.
