Yolanda Zobel leaves Courreges
French-German fashion designer Yolanda Zobel is officially leaving the House of Courreges.
Her departure comes almost two years after she was named the artistic director of the French brand that was founded at the beginning of the 1960s by Andre and Coqueline Courreges. According to the brand, her departure is the result of a “mutual decision” and comes
‘Courreges and its artistic director have mutually decided to end their collaboration. At the head of the brand’s artistic direction, Yolanda Zobel brought her vision, by rethinking the idea of the future for this unique label, known for its avant-garde spirit,’ the brand said in a press release.
The daughter of a German jewelry designer, Zobel was trained in a Berlin fashion school and started her career with Giorgio Armani in 1999. Soon after she worked for prestigious brands such as Giorgio Armani, Chloe, Jil Sander, and Acne Studios. Her final collection, for autumn-winter 2020, will be presented at the end of this month.
Zobel took over the role of artistic director of Courreges in February 2018 from Arnaud Vaillant and Sebastien Meyer and presented four collections: Summer 2019 and 2020, Winter 2019 and a Resort 2020 collection.
Zobel’s successor has not been announced as of yet, however, Courreges CEO Christina Ahlers is expected to make an announcement in the coming months.
