Have you always wanted to be a model? If not, what did you want to be growing up?
I actually never thought about being a model, even though everybody in school told me to do so. I rather dreamed about being an interior designer. Only when I got discovered I took modeling more and more into consideration.
How were you scouted?
I got scouted when I was 15 years old by a scout on Facebook. First I didn’t take it seriously and thought it’s a scam, so I went with my mum to Hamburg to get to know the agency in person and signed a contract with them shortly afterwards.
How would you describe yourself as a model in three words?
Ambitious. Open-minded. Passionate.
Your first modeling job?
A lookbook shoot back in my hometown Cologne
What is your favorite or most exciting aspect about being a model?
My favorite aspect about being a model is to get to travel to so many beautiful places all around the world and to work in a creative environment where you always get to meet new inspiring and creative people.
Is there anyone that you admire as a role model and why?
I love Gisele Bundchen. She is so much more to me than just a beautiful model, her whole attitude towards a mindful life is very inspiring to me. She accomplished so much more than only her modeling career, is very hardworking, professional but nevertheless still stayed humble and loving. That’s something I strive for as well in life.
What is your dream shoot/campaign?
I love shooting outside on spectacular and extraordinary locations. So a dream shoot of mine would be to shoot on an exotic island, a desert, or in the stunning nature of Iceland.
Biggest lesson that modeling has taught you?
To be independent. You get thrown into the cold water at such a young age, so you grow up much faster and learn to be on yourself very quickly. When I went to New York for the first time I was 15 years old and had to navigate myself through the city with the aid of maps (no smartphones), it makes you become independent much faster. It also helped me to become much more self-confident, you often come to set with a group full of strangers and know nobody, so you must learn to be confident, outgoing, open and talkative. It taught me a lot on how to mix with others, because before I was always more on the shy side.
What’s the best life advice you’ve ever received?
To be grateful. It is such a small thing but changes so much.
How do you stay in shape?
I love to live a healthy lifestyle, which includes a mostly plant-based diet and exercising, not just for the sake of staying in shape, but also to get enough nutrients in for my health, my skin and cognitive functions. I see a healthy diet and lifestyle as a holistic concept. We only have this one body and so I love to treat it well – it makes me feel much more energized comfortable in my own skin.
What do you think about fashion? What does it mean to you?
I use fashion to express yourself. In many ways fashion allows you to step into different roles and I love to transfer this fact into my daily life. Fashion allows me to change my outer look according to my mood. Even though I do not agree entirely with the fast-changing trends these days I try to focus more on quality over quantity and set myself the rule to only buy new pieces, which I will own for the next 5 years.
If you had to be head to toe in one designer brand for the rest of your life, which would it be?
I love Scandinavian brands such as Acne, Gestuz or Samsoe&Samsoe for their simple and timeless styles. So, I would probably choose any of these because they are never out of style and will last for a lifetime.
How would you describe your style?
Simple, casual, Scandinavian but always with a trendy twist like a cool bag, nice shoes or sunglasses.
Denim or leather?
Denim!
Heels or flats?
Flats! In my private life I never wear heels, because I am already very tall (180cm) plus they are not comfortable to me.
Vintage or contemporary fashion?
Vintage, I love browsing through vintage stores and finding unique pieces, which you won’t see anybody else wearing on the street.
What is your guilty pleasure?
Chocolate.
What’s been your most indulgent purchase since you became a model?
I personally prefer spending my money on traveling and vacations than on fashion items. I feel like I have more from the experiences I make during traveling and you have these memories to look back on for a lifetime.
But when I indulge on fashion items, I need the feeling of having earned it, as for example after my bachelor’s degree last year when I gifted myself a YSL bag for graduating my economics studies.
When you’re not busy modeling, what are some of your favorite things to do?
I love to spend time with my family, friends, and boyfriend when I am not modeling. Due to spontaneous flexible time schedules which come with modeling, I sometimes don’t get to see my family and friends in months so whenever I am free I love to spend time with them. I also love to take time some me-time when I’m not busy modeling and look after myself in form of exercising, spending time outside in nature by going for long walks, reading, going for a massage or a facial.
What are you working on now and what do you dream of happening in the future?
I try to focus on the present, so I am focusing on modeling for now and always look for ways to improve and develop myself. But I also think about how I could build up a second business pillar for the future. I just finished my bachelor’s degree in economics last year and I’m very interested in skincare and nutrition. I could imagine myself going into that direction later in my career.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years’ time?
As a mom working for my own business hopefully.
