Net-a-Porter launches sustainability platform
Luxury online fashion retailer Net-a-Porter has launched a new platform committed to sustainability.
Titled ‘Net Sustain’ the platform comprises of 26 brands and more than five hundred products each of which must meet at least five of the established sustainability criteria. These include the use of sustainable materials, a sustainable production process, reducing waste, local production, brands that stimulate craftsmanship and give something back to society. The aim of the new platform is to showcase sustainable fashion brands and make ethically responsible luxury shopping easier and more accessible.
‘This is an important milestone in our path to sustainability at Net-a-Porter, as we have always wanted to offer our customers the best products and give them the ability to make informed decisions when shopping on the website Selection gives our buyers the knowledge they need and shows them that they can trust that these brands have been carefully reviewed and that they meet our criteria, and our goal is to provide brands that make truly positive changes. to give a voice by giving them a platform to showcase their best products,’ said Elizabeth von der Goltz, Global Buying Director of Net-a-Porter.
At present items available on the platform encompass clothing, shoes, and bags to lingerie, jewelry, and sportswear. Over time, more designers and products will be added to the platform, where sustainable beauty brands will also be added next year. Participating brands include Stella McCartney, cult labels Mother of Pearl and Maggie Marilyn as well as Ninety Percent, Frish and Veja among others. Products and brands are both shown in a special section on Net-a-Porter and marked with a corresponding badge.
