Ferragamo opens exhibition on sustainability
Italian fashion house Salvatore Ferragamo is demonstrating its ability to think innovatively and its commitment to sustainability with an exhibition.
Titled ‘Sustainable Thinking’, the must-see exhibition is being held in Florence at the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum and was conceived by Stefania Ricci, director of the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum and the Fondazione Ferragamo.
The exhibition presents the works by various artists and fashion designers dedicated to Sustainability with the aim of drawing attention to a pressing issue, reflecting on sustainability through various projects, seminars, and workshops.
The designers created special garments that represent the principles of sustainability at the heart of their designs. They have been divided into four different areas; Trasformazioni (“Transformations”) dedicated to the recycling and reuse of discarded materials to develop new products, Artigianalita e Moda Sociale- dedicated to craftsmanship and fashion with a social conscience, Innovation identifies those brands that use revolutionary techniques and finally, the Nature section includes designers who are using organic yarn from pesticide-free crops and dyed by processes that do not use heavy metals.
‘Fashion and materials, such as fibers and textiles, are the core of the exhibition, which analyzes new business models and consumption. It combines design and science, an aesthetic based on recycling and reuse, rejecting the culture of throwaway,’ said Sara Sozzani Maino, deputy director of special projects and director of Vogue Talents at Vogue Italia.
The exhibition will take place until March 8, 2020.
