Marques’ Almeida re-imagine American classics for 7 For All Mankind
Marta Marques’ and Paulo Almeida have collaborated with 7 For All Mankind on a Denim collection.
The Portuguese designer duo have re-imagined typical American classics inspired by American photographer Joseph Szabo’s evocative images of teenagers of the seventies and eighties. The mood is very youth culture which channel into their raw and defiant designs.
The collection consists of 20 pieces such as shorn shorts, a pair of midrise bootcut jeans, skirts, and pants with frayed hem, trucker jacket with lush lambskin lining and a pair of striped cotton jersey tops. Rounding off the collection is plaid shirts, made of different fabrics in a patchwork style.
Marques’ Almeida are known for their wearable and free-spirited fashion and have become a staple of North American popular culture. All of the items in the collection follow their design principles to deconstruct and re-think the classical. Items have been rendered by their cult denim tailoring and as such Jeans are striped or coarsely painted, the black biker jacket is now brown, and the shearling collar of a typical cowboy denim jacket is not white, but yellow.
