Louis Vuitton’s next show will take place on the French Riviera
Creative director Nicolas Ghesquiere has chosen the Fondation Maeght at Saint-Paul-de-Vence on the French Riviera as the location for the 2019 Resort show on May 28th.
The Fondation Maeght was founded and built in 1964 by Marguerite and Aime Maeght, who commissioned architect Josep Lluis Sert to construct the building. Located about 25 kilometers from the southern French city of Nice it functions as a modern and contemporary art museum with a sculpture garden. The museum exhibits the works of diverse artists as Joan Miro, Alberto Giacometti, Marc Chagall and Wassily Kandinsky.
The announcement is in keeping with LV’s trend of architecturally outstanding locations for the presentations of its resort collections as seen with Monaco, the Bob & Dolores Hope estate in Palm Springs, the Mac Niteroi in Brazil and the Miho Museum in Japan. The trend, which was originally started with Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld’s “Metiers d’Art” shows, is now also followed by Gucci and Dior.
