Ashley Graham is the new face of Marina Rinaldi’s spring campaign
Ashely Graham has been tapped by Marina Rinaldi for their spring / summer 2017 campaign.
The 28-year-old American model and body activist fits perfectly into the company’s strategy of celebrating curvy or plus-size female bodies.
Photographed by Emma Tempest against the urban background of a New York skyline, Graham embodies to perfection the concept of femininity that has always characterized the Italian fashion house. The campaign harmoniously combines digital and traditional media by mixing online communication with social media tags that promotes self-confidence.
In an Instagram video with the tags “Be authentic” and “Love your body”, Graham motivates and incites her followers to love themselves and to be aware of their value. ‘Of course women are the future, and what happens today is that more women stop using labels to define who they are,’ she said.
The #WomenAretheFuture campaign is groundbreaking as it speaks to the need for establishing different models in the fashion industry. The hashtag also sends an important message in the face of the political climate in the USA.
Marina Rinaldi has already redefined the boundaries of the fashion world in the past having collaborated with Oscar winner Patricia Arquette in 2015, while in 2016 it launched an advertising campaign for fall photographed by Ellen von Unwerth.
