Lily-Rose Depp stars in Ad Campaign for Chanel No5 l’Eau
Lily-Rose Depp takes center stage in a new ad for Chanel No5 l’Eau.
The 17-year-old daughter of Johnny Depp and French singer-actress Vanessa Paradis, portrays a woman full of contradictions for No5 l’Eau woman in a short film directed by Johan Renck. The campaign which is built around the theme of ‘you know me and you don’t’ aptly sums up the paradoxes that the modern woman embodies, ‘shadow and light’, ‘question and answer’ and ‘elegance and extravagance’. Lily plays to perfection a young woman who embodies both day and night, artist and muse and vulnerability and invincibility.
The campaign is also noteworthy since Lily follows in the footsteps of her mother who appeared in 1992 as a caged songbird in a Jean Paul Goude-directed campaign, for the Coco fragrance.
Chanel’s newest fragrance is a ‘new interpretation’ of its most iconic scent by perfumer Olivier Polge. It is not a cologne. Nor is it a diluted version of the original fragrance for, at Chanel, each variation is a genuine olfactory creation. It has ingredients like aldehydes, citrus fruits, rose, jasmine and ylang-ylang, enveloped in aromas of vetiver, cedar and musk.
