Massimiliano Giornetti Steps Down as Salvatore Ferragamo’s Creative Director
Massimiliano Giornetti is leaving Salvatore Ferragamo after 16 years.
‘We will take this opportunity to revisit our creative approach,’ said Michele Norsa, CEO of Salvatore Ferragamo. ‘Over time the company has nurtured and sponsored many young designers and is fortunate to be able to count on an excellent in house team.’
Giornetti joined the label in 2000 initially working on its menswear collection and in 2011 was appointed as creative director of both both menswear and womenswear collections. The designer’s Fall/Winter 2016-2017 collection which was presented at Milan Fashion Week in February was his last. No reason was given for his departure from the house.
Following the departure of Raf Simons from Dior and Alber Elbaz from Lanvin in October 2015, Salvatore Ferragamo adds itself to the ever growing list of fashion houses who’s designers have said goodbye.
