Stefano Pilati exits Ermenegildo Zegna Couture
Milanese men’s wear brand Ermenegildo Zegna announced on Wednesday that Italian designer Stefano Pilati will step down immediately, a departure characterized as being by mutual agreement.
The Autumn / Winter 2016 collection shown in Milan last week, is the last collection that he designed for the fashion house. Pilati previously worked as creative director for Yves Saint Laurent and before that he held various positions in the design teams of Miu Miu and Giorgio Armani.
‘I want to thank Stefano for his contributions to Ermenegildo Zegna. We aim to establish a strong vision within the fashion world, and wanted to make sure for Zegna to be a show not to be missed in Milan. We have reached this objective faster than expected. Now we move on to new chapters for Zegna, I wish Stefano all the best for the future, ‘Gildo Zegna, CEO of the Zegna Group said in a statement.
Pilati said that it was a difficult decision to resign: ‘I’ve thought a lot before I came to this decision, but after long talks with Zegna we have come to the conclusion that the mission I have been given, is accomplished. I would now like to focus on my other projects I’ve pushed aside in recent years to achieve our goals for Zegna Couture,’ said the designer.
Pilati held for three years the position of creative director of Ermenegildo Zegna Couture. His successor is not yet known.
