Karl Lagerfeld to Get Photo Exhibition in Paris
The world’s most renowned fashion designer and creative director of Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld will be having an exhibition in Paris.
Titled “Karl Lagerfeld: A Visual Journey,” the exhibition will take place at the Pinacotheque de Paris, a private museum and will feature pictures from many sessions of artistic shots of architecture, Paris, and a range of photographic and printing technologies by Lagerfeld himself. The showcase will be chosen by publisher Gerhard Steidl, Chanel’s image director Eric Pfunder and one of Chanel’s chief image collaborators.
The exhibition will allow fans and visitors to experience the history of Lagerfeld in Photography. “People always want to know about my style of photography. I can’t answer that,” said Lagerfeld. “That’s up to viewers to decide. I don’t have a style, but several, or none. You should never stay still, neither in life, nor in fashion, nor in photography.”
Lagerfeld was first encouraged to picked up a camera in 1987 by the director of photography Chanel – Eric Pfrundera and since then gone on to shoot campaigns for Chanel, Fendi, Dior Homme and others, along with editorial shoots, and a slew of artistic projects for exhibitions or books. He also experiments with all kinds of photographic and printing technologies, from Polaroids and daguerreotypes to so-called fire-etchings in which photos are printed on glass.
Prior to this the ‘Karl Lagerfeld ModeMethode Exhibition’ took place at the Bundeskunsthalle museum in Bonn. Located at the Art and Exhibition Hall of the Federal Republic of Germany, and until September 13th.
“Karl Lagerfeld: A Visual Journey” starts on 16 October and will last until March 20, 2016.
