Cara Delevingne To Star In Luc Besson’s Sci-Fi Flick “Valerian”
Britian’s Favorite model Cara Delevingne has plenty to celebrate.
The 22 year old multi hyphenate will star in “Valerian” a new film from french filmmaker Luc Besson. Delevingne will star as the red-haired companion, Laureline to the titular character, a space and time-traveling agent from a futuristic Earth played by Dane Dehaan.
Luc Besson took to twitter last week to make the announcement posting a photo of the Cara & Dehaan which he captioned “Starring @danedehaan & @Caradelevingne. Shooting in December. In theaters 2017”. Delevingne retweeted Luc Besson’s announcement to her 2.6 million followers.
The graphic-novel adaptation is set in the 28th century when humanity discovered how to time-travel and was created by Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mezieres in 1967. It has since sold over 10 million copies in 21 languages. Besson will be writing and directing the film, with his wife, Virginie Besson Silla, producing for Besson’s EuropaCorp banner, which will finance, produce and distribute. Production is set to begin at the end of this year, with a global release slated for July 21 2017.
Recently, Delevingne expressed her sadness over losing a part in a Beach Boys film that didn’t end up being made. Speaking to WSJ Magazine she said “I was heartbroken, with modeling, if someone else gets a job, I’m like, Yeah, of course, there are so many better models. But with acting, you grow such an attachment to each role.”
With the release of this announcement it certainly seems to unbreak Delevingne’s heart who has a long list of movies coming out in 2015 including the highly anticipated “Paper Towns”. In 2016 she will be seen in Suicide Squad.
