Sophie Dahl Makes Triumphant Return To Runway
Former model turned author Sophie Dahl made a surprise return to the catwalk after 11 years, walking in Alice Temperley’s Autumn/Winter 2015 London Fashion Week show at RIBA.
The 37 year-old who is married to musician Jamie Cullum (with whom she has two daughters) had her last appearance at Matthew Williamson’s show in 2004. Sporting a floor-length velvet jacket with a sequined outfit Sophie looked stunning while her husband watched from the front row.
Designer Alice Temperley, a longtime friend of the model’s, told Grazia, “She’s a friend and I wondered why on earth she wasn’t on that catwalk. She’s so unbelievably beautiful. I just said, ‘you’re looking so amazing please will you walk in my show? Don’t say no, think about it,’ and she did it.”
Sophie made her debut at London Fashion Week at Lainey Keogh in Autumn 1997. She is the granddaughter of Cardiff-born author Roald Dahl and retired from modeling to focus on her writing career having been a regular for publications such as American Vogue, The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Observer and the Saturday Times. She is the author of two novellas and two cook books.
