Supermodel Naomi Campbell’s first Bollywood venture “Karma, Confessions and Holi” bombed badly at the box office.
Critics and others described it as, “lacks everything a good movie consists of”, “undignified”, “disaster”, “unholy mix”, “unholy mess”, “torture”, etc.
Filmed in New York and Princeton (New Jersey), this 110 minutes drama about a couple living in New York, directed by Manish Gupta (Indian Fish in American Waters), and co-produced by Robert De Niro’s daughter Drena De Niro (The Lovebirds), also starred Sticky Fingas, Vincent Curatola, Lisa Branch, Claire Fricke, Jamieson Rhyme, etc. Campbell played the role of Jennifer. Hindus have strongly objected to the usage of Hindu terminology loosely in movies. Acclaimed Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that “Karma, Confessions and Holi” had nothing much to do with “karma” or “Holi”. Rajan Zed, who is president of Universal Society of Hinduism, further said that Hindus welcomed world filmmakers to make films about Hindu subjects but taking Hinduism seriously and respectfully and not reimagining its concepts and symbols just for mercantile greed. “Holi” and “karma” had definite meaning for devotees and improper usage of such terms was not okay. – Sampurn Media
