Vogue’s September Model-Tastic Cover Is Finally Unveiled
After much anticipation and speculation, Vogue US has released the cover for its annual fashion bible, the iconic September Issue which is the biggest of the year. At 866 pages it is a fold-out cover and features Arizona Muse, Edie Campbell, Imaan Hammam, Fei Fei Sun, Vanessa Axente and Andreea Diaconu in addition to the main cover image featuring Joan Smalls, Cara Delevingne and Karlie Kloss.
Famed photographer Mario Testino shot the models who are seen standing arm in arm with smiles and have been dubbed as “The Instagirls” due to their social media presence. In recent years, September Issue covers have almost exclusively featured celebs like Jennifer Lawrence (2013), Lady Gaga (2012), Halle Berry (2010), and Charlize Theron (2009) but this year’s cover somewhat surprisingly puts models front and center making it quite a departure for Vogue.
This isn’t the first time Vogue has put three models on a September cover: Daria Werbowy, Natalia Vodianova and Gisele Bündchen were featured on the September 2004 issue, which included a fold-out featuring models, like Gemma Ward and Karen Elson.
With the new issue being received positively by Vogue fans the magazine seems to have scored big with it hailing that Insta Girls are the new generation and the supermodel era has come to an end.
