Highlights of the Paris Fashion Week – Trends for F/W 2013/14
Dior
Raf Simons, Designer of the label Dior, presented fitted suits, asymmetric skirts and simple pantsuits. The sandglass-silhouette dominated the clothing shapes. Silk, wool and leather made the clothing look exclusive. A lot of checked pattern, eyelet embroidery and typical Dior hounds-tooth-pattern were seen in the selected textiles, predominantly in black and white colors. Graphic decorations, like flowers and birds, gave Dior’s F/W 2013/14 collection the avantgarde-look. Raf Simons for Dior was great again!
Alexander McQueen
The F/W 2013/2014 collection of Alexander McQueen, designed by Sarah Burton, was inspired by elements of the British monarchy. The opulent cloth impressed in black and white colors with silver accessories. Royal festive dresses, some of them graced with Victorian collars, blew the audience away. Exclusive textiles were used and emphasized the addiction to lovely details. Sarah Burton, mother-to-be, brought along a small but exquisite variety of designs…it satisfied us a fortiori!
Louis Vuitton
Marc Jacobs, creative director of legendary Louis Vuitton, showed his new collection in a luxury city hotel. The runway was built on the main floor, which the models entered through wooden, dark-brown doors on the imposing stage. The spectators were invited to a nostalgic time and seemed to feel the spirit of the boudoir-glamour. The models were styled with short black hair, reminiscent to the early 20ies as well as the Hollywood 40ies. Luxurious fur, satin pajamas, negligees and lace dresses stood out. The catwalk was perfectly selected for this F/W 2013/2014 collection; we need to get styled like this and leave grandma’s negligee and grandpa’s coat in the basement!
Chanel
Chanel´s designer Karl Lagerfeld let his models circle around the world. In the middle of the Parisian Grand Palais a rotating globe with flashing lights and little Chanel flags was constructed. Especially dark colors, like black, grey and dark-blue, guided us through the collection, highlighted just by some cobalt-blue, raspberry red and white shades. Beautiful coats were combined with A-line mini-skirts and overknees. Tweed was definitely the most frequently used textile in this F/W 2013/14 Chanel collection. Accessories like fur helmet caps, riveting gloves and patent leather, gave the classy Chanel-Look a touch of rock.
Valentino
Majestic and renowned Valentino overwhelmed us by the F/W 2013/14 collection. Designer Maria Grazia Chiuri und Pier Paolo Piccioli showed straight-line and classy looks which stood out by pure elegance. Valentino impressed with high-necked cloth with pulsate chasteness. Soft colors, like cr?me and white, but also royal–blue, royal–red and black, arranged in floral patterns, made the collection look terrific. The textiles chosen were velvet, silk, leather and alpaca-wool. The Flemish Renaissance inspired the Valentino collection – reflects by painting-pattern. Valentino still flies high!
Céline
Phoebe Philo designed the F/W 2013/14 collection of Céline. Céline is well-known for traditional elegance, presenting classy and sophisticated cloth. Saying it short, the collection convinces with mellow tints and simple forms. Checked pattern with black, white, cr?me, grey and wooden green aspects made the designs look wonderful. The people from Céline provided us with feelings of unique comfort by their sensual show.
Kenzo
The duo Carol Lim und Humberto Leon designed the upcoming F/W 2013/14 collection for Kenzo. Inspired by Nepalese, Indian and Chinese temples, the clothing is dominated by intensive colors and exotic patterns. The Asian-spirit was perceptible. Some coats were designed like kimonos, presented in combination with skinny pants or mini-skirts. The wild pattern-mix demands courage of the wearer, but with this cloth you will be the highlight wherever you show up!
