Don’t look now, Lila… Mummy Kate Moss is buying your Christmas presents in BHS
She may have earned ?5million last year, but supermodel Kate Moss still likes to watch the pennies at Christmas.
The 34-year-old was just like a regular mother from her hometown of Croydon as she hunted for her daughter’s present at BHS in Oxford Street on Tuesday evening.
With her rocker boyfriend Jamie Hince for company, Kate joined the throngs of female shoppers searching for gifts in the toy section.
Despite her dressed-down appearance in black jeans, boots and a fur-trimmed coat, Kate showed her star status as she enlisted the help of a sales assistant to wheel a trolley around the store for her.
While wearing a nod to glamour with her fur-trimmed collar, Kate looked fresh-faced and make-up free as she perused the shelves.
After studying the half-price toy stand in the middle of the shop floor, Kate picked out a series of pink gifts for her six-year-old daughter, including a Hello Kitty gumball dispenser, vanity case and charm bracelets.
As Kate shopped up a storm, The Kills guitarist Jamie played the part of bored boyfriend as he followed her around the store.
Despite her millions in the banks, Kate’s appearance at BHS isn’t such a surprise.
The store chain is owned by her retail tycoon pal Sir Philip Green, who hired Kate to design her own fashion range for TopShop last year.
Shoppers who spotted Kate on Tuesday could have been forgiven for wondering if she was getting a healthy ‘staff’ discount on her purchases.
It appears Kate is quite the fan of BHS, she was spotted carrying bags of toys from the store earlier this month after popping into the company’s headquarters with Sir Philip and Jamie.
The unlikely pair have been friends since they met at a charity auction in 2006, where he had paid ?60,000 for a kiss with Moss.
She said at the time: ‘I’m a girl from Croydon, you’re a boy from Croydon. Let’s do a collection together.’
Sir Philip has previously described her as ‘smart and witty’, and has regularly expressed his admiration of her business acumen.
After the launch of her Topshop line last year, he gushed: ‘To give Kate credit, she insisted on personally signing off on every piece.
‘The six designers, buyers and merchandisers I assigned to work with her found her ideas totally inspiring.’
