Fantasy Bra goes on display at London’s Bond Street store
If you couldn’t get enough of the Victoria’s Secret $2.5 million “Fantasy Bra” worn by model extraordinaire, Alessandra Ambrosio, here’s your chance to marvel at it again in person and up close. The jewel-encrusted bra goes on display in London at the brand’s new Bond Street location. And if VS is looking to draw more customers to their new venue, this ought to do it.
If viewers flock to the new location hoping to see angel Alessandra Ambrosio wearing the diamond-encrusted piece of underwear, they will be sorely disappointed. The exemplare will be displayed on its own sans the model and no matter how you embellish it, it is just a piece of UNDERWEAR but leave it to VS to give it celebrity status, the lowly bra through their excellent know-how and marketing team.
They took a simple bra, albeit a push-up one, and handset it with amethysts, sapphires, rubies, white, pink and yellow diamonds set in 18 karat rose and yellow gold. If that’s not mind-boggling enough, the bra has two removable diamond flower pins and a drop centerpiece which is a whopping 20 carat white diamond. Master craftsmen saw to it that each of the stones handpicked from around the world was perfectly handset for a bra that is like no other and stands in a class of its own.
Alessandra Ambrosio modeled this year’s version in the 2012 Victoria’s Secret Christmas Dreams & Fantasies Catalogue and walked the runway with it at the VS 2012 Fashion Show and showed off her and its breathtaking form. She followed in the footsteps of fellow angels, Gisele Bundchen, Claudia Schiffer, Heidi Klum, Miranda Kerr, Adriana Lima and Tyra Banks who all had the honour of wearing the VS Fantasy Bra in the past.
It has been rumored that the Fantasy Bra is actually for sale but at $2.5 million the question is, “What do you do with it after you buy it?” Put it behind a glass case and admire it, that would be our guess as it seems a little uncomfortable to wear on a daily basis. And that folks, is the honest truth.
