Elizabeth Hurley wears pink to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Estee Lauder’s Breast Cancer Awareness campaign

It was pink all the way for the Breast Cancer Awareness campaign. Elizabeth Hurley, one of the most avid supporters of the campaign decided to do the same by donning a pretty pink dress that hugged her curves in all the right places to turn on the lights of the iconic Empire State Building pink to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Estee Lauder’s Breast Cancer Awareness campaign. Elizabeth was in New York to give her full support. She was seen posing with a big poster with the words, “Courage. Believe in a world without breast cancer. Know we’re here until it’s true.”

Ms Hurley not only took to the stage to address the crowd gathered there but she also posed for photos making it a celebrity event as well. It is no secret that the model turned designer is an avid supporter of the campaign having supported the cause for several years but she has said that this campaign is close to her heart. This is what she had to say in her own words. “My maternal grandmother died of breast cancer just before I started working with Evelyn and Estee Lauder and so, as soon as she asked me to help, it seemed like the perfect fit because she was one of the ladies that we really had tried to get past all that because she was scared of her breast cancer. She wouldn’t tell anyone that she had a lump. So, that’s really what has inspired us to now really spread the word, so that breast cancer is not a dirty word anymore.”

Boyfriend Shane Warne was on hand to lend full support wearing a dark suit and a pink tie and flashing his “toothpaste ad” white smile. He later tweeted: “On the 80th floor with @Elizabeth Hurley of the Empire State Building…Xxx.” Can we feel the pride in those words? Yes, we can and rightfully so.

Several iconic buildings also went pink for the occasion including the Tower of London, HMS Belfast and Somerset House. It was called “Turn London Landmarks Pink.” So, pink it is folks for a worthy cause and Ms Hurley does a marvelous job of using her beauty and her celebrity clout to bring the event to the forefront. Two thumbs up.
