Supermodel Karen Mulder looks good at age 44
In her heyday, Karen Mulder, was the model everyone wanted to see and she commanded a staggering 10,000 pounds a day for one modeling assignment. The Dutch-born model had walked the runway for big name designers such as Versace, Armani, Yves Saint-Laurent and Valentino by the time she was 18.
She entered the modeling business when she won the Elite Model of the Year contest at the age of 15 and the rest is history as they say. Success came early for her and fame was bought at a high price. The supermodel has claimed that she was abused by her father and raped by numerous men including Prince Albert of Monaco and model agency executives. She has had an ongoing battle with depression and everything came to a head when she was delivered to a Paris hospital in 2002 after a failed suicide attempt.
Mulder left the fashion industry in 2000 but returned recently to take part in the Paris Couture Week for a one-time appearance alongside fellow models Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista. The model prefers to keep a low-profile these days. She was seen recently on the Greek island of Mykonos with some friends and her six-year-old daughter Anna. Looking incredible she showed off her envious curves in a skimpy black two-piece and looked happy wading in the clear water and that is a good thing.
Just goes to show that the modeling business is not just about glamour, glitz and fame but that a lot takes place behind the scenes than meets the eye. This supermodel seems to have a found a handle on her life again and we wish her well.
