Supermodel Niki Taylor stands out on new season of ‘Celebrity Apprentice’
Sexy model Niki Taylor wants to get dirty – way dirty – when she’s done with her run on NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice.”
We’re talking down-in-the-gutter dirty.
Really.
“I would love to be the host of a female ‘Dirty Jobs,'” Taylor says, referring to Discovery’s hit hosted by Mike Rowe. “I’m sure there are so many jobs out there that people don’t know women are doing. I’m not afraid to get dirty. I ride motorcycles. I’ve raised teenagers, I’ve got a 2-year-old. This country is so amazing, there are so many jobs out there, and dirty jobs as well. Let’s get the women involved here.”
Before she gets dirty, though, Taylor has to finish her run on “Celebrity Apprentice,” which began Sunday. In the first episode – all shot here in New York City – Taylor won praise for her pizza-making skills and picked up $35,000 for her charity, the Red Cross.
She also stood out, by design, for not fighting with everyone.
Like a lot of folks, she initially said no to participating. Then rather quickly she said yes. It also helped that she learned from her hair and makeup person that Lisa Rinna and Star Jones were part of the cast.
Walking in, Taylor admits “It was just surreal.”
The cast was mixed with folks like herself, there to raise money for charity, and others who looked at it as a game first.
“I’m more of a quiet person,” she says. “I’m a really good listener, so I was talked over a lot. And there were just more people who were more vocal. I sit back and watch a lot of the drama and didn’t put energy into bullying or the attitudes.”
Taylor says her 20 years as a model – she’s done everything from runway to Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit issues – gave her enough experience around colorful people to know how to survive.
Still, there were times when she was stunned by the silliness.
“It’s really unnecessary fighting,” she says, “for what, just so they could get on TV? There’s tons of unnecessary fighting. It’s really good TV. It’s going to be great.”
Taylor can’t say how long she remains in the game.
However, she’s already thinking ahead. She’s on the road now as a spokeswoman for Reader’s Digest’s “We Hear You America” campaign, which provides $7.5 million to towns across the country.
She also wants to get her own clothing, accessory and lifestyle brand off the ground. And she’s open to doing more TV.
She’s aware the thought of going from high fashion to “Dirty Jobs,” where Rowe is often knee-deep in poop, may seem odd to some.
Not to her – she’s already practicing.
“I do it all the time. Just going to our swing set, I’m stepping in poop from our dogs,” she says. “I’m always cleaning poop off if someone’s shoes.”
