Christie Brinkley Wasn’t Sure Who Joel Was When They First Met

Supermodel Christie Brinkley had no idea who Billy Joel was when she first met her husband-to-be in the early 1980s, while he was playing piano in a club.
The stunner was out with pals Whitney Houston and Elle MacPherson when the trio became transfixed by Joel’s piano skills.
Brinkley knew that the man before her was a big star, but she’d spent so long modelling in Europe she had no idea just how big he was.
She tells TV show Access Hollywood, “I didn’t know what to call him… so I just called him Joe. I said, ‘Y’know, you look a Joe to me.’
“I remember having a little anxiety over that because I knew that he was supposedly very famous, but I had been living in Europe, so I wasn’t all that familiar.”
The couple wed in 1985 and divorced nine years later, but remain good friends.
