Naomi Campbell turns to Kabbalah to bring her to ‘calmer’ place

Supermodel Naomi Campbell has revealed how she is attempting to reign in her explosive temper by converting to the mystical Kabbalah religion.
After two court convictions for violence and repeated assaults on her personal staff, the 40-year-old said the teachings of Kabbalah was taking her to a ‘positive, calm place’.
The Streatham-born model, who was pictured dining at C London in the British capital last night, said: ‘I just want to be quiet. I just want to live my life.
‘What you can change is yourself and the type of energy you put into yourself. That you can change.
‘I study Kabbalah because it takes me to a positive, calm place. That’s what I use it for, and it helps me a lot.’
Campbell, who was a star witness at the recent war crimes trial of former Liberian president Charles Taylor over the gift of a ‘blood diamond’, said she had dabbled in the mystical offshoot of Judaism since 2000.
She was spotted having secret meetings with Madonna’s Kabbalah mentor Rabbi Eitan Yardeni in New York earlier this year.
But the experience of appearing before the war crimes trial, where her evidence over the diamond was called into question, appears to have pushed her closer towards the religion.
‘I’ve been in and out of Kabbalah since around 2000.It’s just something I have taken more seriously.’
She told U.S. fashion magazine Interview that she was reading Kabbalah teaching daily, adding: ‘I’ve been practicing. I don’t know if I’ve been pronouncing everything right, but I’ve been practicing.’
Campbell said she speaks with Rabbi Eitan in New York and a Rabbi in Moscow where she is now living with her billionaire boyfriend Vladimir Doronin.
The fiery supermodel’s devotion to Kabbalah represents their most high profile convert since Madonna. Other followers include Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, while Britney Spears briefly dabbled in it.
Kabbalah is a spiritual movement rooted in Jewish mysticism with its supporters identified by wearing a loose fitting string on their wrists.
Despite studying the religion it has yet to fully contain Campbell’s violent temper.
Earlier this year she was involved in an altercation with her chauffeur when she was accused of slapping and punching him while driving around New York.
Police said the chauffeur, who had been hired for the day, suffered bruising to his right eye but did not say what prompted the alleged attack. He declined to press charges.
In 2007, she was sentenced in a New York court to a week’s community service sweeping floors and scrubbing toilets after pleading guilty to misdemeanor assault.
She had hurled her mobile phone at a maid after a pair of her jeans went missing.
And two years ago, she pleaded guilty to kicking and spitting at police at Heathrow after her luggage went missing. She was sentenced to 200 hours community service.
She has also been sued by several former employees, who have accused her of violent outbursts.
Campbell was ordered to appear before a war crimes trial in The Hague in August to explain the gift of a ‘blood diamond’ from Liberian dictator Taylor.
She provoked controversy before even taking the stand when she said it was ‘inconvenient’ to have to give evidence.
Campbell admitted the choice of word was wrong: ‘Ok, I said one word – that it was inconvenient – and that was wrong, and I take that.’
Her evidence over the gift from Taylor, while attending a dinner with Nelson Mandela in 1997, was questioned by her former agent Carol White.
Campbell insisted she had been telling the truth.
‘I was on trial myself, and it was not my trial,’ she said.
