Jean Paul Gaultier collaborates with Shayne Oliver on Capsule Collection
French Fashion Designer Jean Paul Gaultier has announced Hood By Air former creative director and co-founder Shayne Oliver as his next guest designer.
The collaboration is part of JPG’s guest designer program which has released collections by Chitose Abe of Sacai, Simone Rocha, Olivier Rousteing, Haider Ackermann, and Glenn Martens of Y/Project.
Oliver who left the Hood By Air label in 2023 is known for his expertise in streetwear looks having worked several years alongside fashion houses like Diesel and Longchamp. For his collaboration with JPG, the American designer took inspiration from the ’90s era of Jean Paul Gaultier where denim was worn on couture runways.
The collaborative collection combines contemporary interpretation and couture and is expected to comprise of 50 pieces of reimagined streetwear including baggy denim, distressed fabrics, and sportswear aesthetics.
The Jean Paul Gaultier x Shayne Oliver ready-to-wear collection will launch on the night of the Met Gala in New York on May 6 on jeanpaulgaultier.com
