Charles de Vilmorin exits Rochas as Creative Director after two years
Charles de Vilmorin French luxury fashion house Rochas have parted ways after over 2 years.
According to WWD, Rochas’ parent company Interparfums SA did not renew its contract with the 26-year-old French designer after it had expired on March 31. ‘We would like to thank Charles for his contribution to the legacy of Rochas. His creative vision will have a long lasting impact on the brand’s universe,’ Philippe Benacin, CEO of Interparfums SA said in a statement.
De Vilmorin was appointed as head of artistic direction at Rochas in February 2021, succeeding Alessandro Dell’Acqua, who exited the Interparfums-owned label at the end of 2019. He made his runway debut for the label in September of the same year during Paris Fashion Week.
A graduate from the school of the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne, he burst onto the international fashion scene with his first eponymous collection in 2020. He was also was one of the finalists for the 2021 edition of the LVMH Prize, before being pre-selected for the ANDAM Prize the same year. The Hyeres International Festival of Fashion, Photography and Fashion Accessories recently named him president of the fashion jury for this October’s edition of its event.
Known for his love for colours and his instinctive vision of design, the couture designer brought a new energy to Rochas, whilst carrying on the House’s values of bold and timeless elegance.
De Vilmorin’s successor is not yet known and Rochas is expected to make an announcement on it’s future creative direction at a later date.
