Hermes names Gregoris Pyrpylis as new beauty Creative Director
French luxury house Hermes has appointed Greek makeup artist Gregoris Pyrpylis as it’s new beauty Creative Director.
A former Shiseido and Maybelline New York ambassador, Pyrpylis who succeeds Jerome Touron is a genius in the world of makeup. He began his career in 2006 with MAC and from 2015 to 2017 he served as global brand ambassador for skincare brand Bioderma. He has worked with many celebrities, such as Cindy Crawford, Carla Bruni, Alexa Chung, and Laetitia Casta.
‘We take a crosscutting perspective to creating objects for Hermes Beauty, an approach born of several areas of know-how that compliment and enrich each other, with the aim of serving an artistic vision expressed through the object, material, color, gestures and eco-responsibility. As an expert in the colors, textures and gestures that express and elevate beauty, Gregoris’ talent will be a driving force for Hermes Beaute,’ Agnes de Villers, president of Hermes Parfum et Beaute said in a statement.
‘We share with Gregoris a vision of beauty as an everyday ally that reveals personality and confers elegance, comfort and pleasure,’ said Pierre-Alexis Duma, Hermes artistic director.
‘I am delighted to be joining Hermes, which is for me the house that epitomises beauty and is unique for its values, boldness, and attachment to craftsmanship and know-how. I have always viewed make-up and skincare as a means and not an end. Beauty objects are marvellous tools that go beyond appearance to benefit wellbeing. It is clear to me that through the Beauty metier, Hermes seeks to provide its community with an experience, a journey, during which each personality can be expressed, each form of beauty revealed,’ Pyrpylis said in a press statement.
In his new role, Pyrpylis will work under the combined leadership of de Villers and Dumas. He will contribute to the development of the Hermes Beauty metier beauty line that was launched in March 2020.
