Loewe and Studio Ghibli release ‘Spirited Away’ Inspired Collection
Spanish luxury fashion house and renowned Japanese animation studio Studio Ghibli has launched an exclusive capsule collection inspired by the animated film ‘Spirited Away’.
Titled Loewe x ‘Spirited Away’ the collection comprises of accessories, bags, ready-to-wear, shoes, wallets and small leather goods. Creative Director Jonathan Anderson pays tribute to the 2001 masterpiece by Hayao Miyazaki that won an Oscar for Best Animated Feature at the 75th Academy Awards.
Each of the pieces were handcrafted by LOEWE artisans using signature techniques including intarsia and embroidery and feature iconic motifs from the film on tactile forms. The film’s whimsical characters (Chihiro, Haku, Kaonashi, Yubaba and Susuwatari) and lyrical backdrops make an appearance in the designs.
To accompany the launch of the collection a campaign shot by Juergen Teller featuring models Mica Arganaraz, Hyunji Shin and Kit Butler as well as singer and performer Dua Saleh has been released.
The capsule marks the second collaboration between both brands following last years’ release of a successful collection based on the 1988 Ghibli film My Neighbor Totoro.
Priced bewteen 200 and 6500 USD the Loewe x ‘Spirited Away’ capsule is available now online and in selected LOEWE stores.
