Model of the Week: Mahdi Mezzoudji
Each week, we take the time to highlight one of our favorite emerging models. Previously, we profiled Teresa Forgia and this week we’re turning our attention to Mahdi Mezzoudji. We caught up with the Italian native to talk about his career so far, passion for modeling and plans for the future.
Nationality: Italian

Have you always wanted to be a model? If not, what did you want to be growing up?
No, not at all. I’ve never considered working as a model. Ever since I was little, I’ve always had a passion for bees, so I loved the idea of working as a beekeeper and being sorrounded by nature, green and animals. It’s still a passion of mine, so hopefully in the future.
How were you scouted?
A couple years ago a friend of mine named Jessica, asked me if I wanted to take some pictures in her garden. At first I refused because I was a bit shy, but then I accepted and I got my first pictures taken on a rainy day in May, playing with flowers and shadows in her garden. A couple months later I got scouted by my mother agency.
How would you describe yourself as model in three words?
Positive, creative and curious.
Your first modeling job?
Actually, as soon as I signed with my mother agency, I got my very first job as an acting role for a music video clip. My first job as a model was an editorial project for Vanity Fair.
What is your favorite or most exciting aspect about being a model?
I’d say the most exciting thing about being a model is being able to meet a lot of people from different parts of the world, so learning new things about different cultures and their stories. On a professional level, I’d say learning different techniques and ways of modeling.
What is your dream shoot/campaign?
My dream shoot/campaign would probably be anything with Steven Meisel, I admire his photography.
What do you think about fashion? What does it mean to you?
I think that fashion is a form of creativity and expression to reach freedom, because a piece of clothing has no rule, no size and no gender or colour prejudice. To me fashion means art and creativity.
If you had to be head to tow in one designer brand for the rest of your life, which would it be?
It would probably be Loewe because of it’s large range of colours and shapes.
Vintage or contemporary fashion?
I like them both, because they express two different moments and the confrontation is interesting, but I prefer contemporary.
What is your guilty pleasure?
It would be a Harry Potter movies marathon during wintertime having a cup of tea or hot chocolate with my family.
Thank you, Mahdi, for taking the time to talk with us!
