Miu Miu and Levi’s launch sustainable Denim collection
Italian fashion house Miu Miu and iconic American jeans company Levis has launched a vintage and sustainable capsule collection.
Titled ‘Upcycled by Miu Miu x Levi’s’ the hotly-anticipated capsule which was announced in December 2020 comprises of denim pieces such as 80s and 90s classic 501 jeans and signature trucker jackets.
Each of the pieces have been elaborately embellished with clusters of diamante embroidery, crystals, and pearls as well as patches of metallic leather. Altogether, the collection continues Miuccia Prada’s mission of promoting a more sustainable fashion industry.
‘No two pieces in the collection are the same. Reimagined through the Miu Miu lens, the lives of garments worn and loved in the past are extended, refreshed – renewed,’ the fashion house said in an official statement.
‘We are a company, with thousands of people working for us, we have to sell. We are not here to have fun. Creative people in fashion – we are not pure artists. We have to be responsible, because companies and enterprises should be responsible. There’s a responsibility to your workers, about sustainability, about inclusivity. And not only responsible, but contributing to change,’ Miuccia Prada told the Financial Times earlier this year.
To mark the launch of the collection, the brand released a campaign featuring some of its favorite muses, including fashion darling Emma Corrin, Kate Moss’ daughter Lila Moss, and Georgia Palmer.
The Upcycled by Miu Miu x Levi’s collection will be available to shop online on Miu Miu’s website and selected Miu Miu stores starting May 24. Meanwhile check out the stunning campaign images here
