Giovanna Engelbert’s first collection for Swarovski is here
Swarovski Global Creative Director Giovanna Battaglia Englebert’s debut collection has arrived.
Back in May 2020, the 41-year-old Italian Fashion editor and stylist was appointed as part of a realignment and streamlining of the 125-year-old Austrian crystal and jewelry house. Battaglia was inspired by the early sketches of the crystal house’s founder Daniel Swarovski and has envisioned a collection that pushes the boundaries of science and engineering and is a pure expression of color and magic.
Titled ‘Collection I’ it comprises of necklaces, earrings and body jewelry in bold colours and sizes. The collection is divided into various sub lines or families: The Harmonia Family (cushion cut clear crystals), The Dulcis Family (iridescent sherbet-colored metal with contrasting cushion-cut crystals), The Millenia Family, The Curiosa Family, The Orbita Family (opaque crystal), and The Chroma Family (Rectangular crystals) to name a few.
Altogether, the collection stays true to Swarovski’s heritage with enduring elegance while not afraid to stand out and make a statement. It sparks a new universe of possibility and wonder through the alchemy of innovative design and crystal craftsmanship.
‘I wanted to explore the fundamental geometry of crystal and its potential as a material. Looking at Daniel Swarovski’s first drawings was an absolute inspiration, discovering the magic of his early inventions and understanding the power of his dream to create something the world had never seen. As I set out on my own creative journey, I respect how transformative jewelry can be and wanted to create pieces and a vision of style that women and men could embrace and feel like their bold unique selves in,’ Battaglia said in a statement.
To celebrate the arrival of the new collection Swarovski has released a campaign film starring models Adwoa Aboah, Lexi Boling, Maggie Cheng, Tess Mcmillan, Game of Thrones’ Gwendoline Christie and The Queen’s Gambit’s Isla Johnston. Swarovski has also revealed a new brand identity and reimagined its signature swan logo (an elongated neck and slightly lifts its wings) to mark its 125th anniversary and symbolize the new direction.
The Swarovski Collection I is available now for pre-order and will ship from March 22. Meanwhile check out the stunning campaign images here
