Sebastien Meunier leaves Ann Demeulemeester
Sebastien Meunier, creative director of Belgian fashion brand Ann Demeulemeester, is leaving the house after ten years.
The French designer had succeeded Ann Demeulemeester herself when she decided to leave the fashion world in 2013. His collections were received positively for preserving the houses’ DNA and honoring Demeulemeester’s romantic spirit and tailoring.
A graduate of the ESMOD fashion school, Meunier had initially worked for three years for Demeulemeester’s men line. Prior to that, he had worked briefly for Jean Colona and for almost a decade at Martin Margiela.
‘From the deepest of my heart, I would like to thank all the teams, I have worked so closely with, over the past 10 years. With a special thought for Mirjam, Basje, Florent, Satu, Anne, Martijn, Michele, Robbie, Carl, and Bram – we have been a family. I am particularly proud that, one collection after another, the House of Ann Demeulemeester has embraced some pressing challenges of our society, especially addressing the questions of gender and diversity,’ Meunier said of his departure in an Instagram post.
‘The house of Ann Demeulemeester announces the departure of Sebastien Meunier as its Creative Director. We would like to thank Sebastien for his dedication and for everything he has accomplished since his arrival 10 years ago,’ the Antwerp based label said in an Instagram post on Friday.
Meunier’s successor has not been announced as of yet, neither are the reasons for his departure known.
