Schiaparelli skips Couture Fashion Week
The list of Fashion Houses who have taken themselves off the fashion calendar continues to grow. After Givenchy, Dries Van Noten, Saint Laurent, Marc Jacobs, and Michael Kors, Schiaparelli has joined the fold.
The French Fashion house which is owned by Italian luxury king Diego Della Valle announced that it will not be showing a new collection during the digital couture fashion week which takes place on Monday 6 July. Instead, it will celebrate its heritage and creativity by releasing a short film dedicated to the universe of Elsa and will feature a closer look at creative director Daniel Roseberry producing sketches of his designs which he worked on in New York during the quarantine.
The new haute couture collection is under development and will be unveiled in Los Angeles in December. Prior to that, the atelier plans to stage an intimate presentation at its historic salons at 21 Place Vendome during which its pret-a-porter collection will be unveiled.
‘We were unable to honor the deliveries of haute couture orders scheduled during this period, but none of our clients have canceled their orders. On the contrary, they not only expressed their support for the house, but they were also sensitive to the fact that we offered them special creations. We are therefore not worried about our haute couture activities these coming months. I think this period has reinforced our relationship with our customers,’ Delphine Bellini chief executive officer of Schiaparelli told WWD.
In addition, Schiaparelli also announced that it will be launching e-commerce sometime this month staring with Instagram sales for limited-edition jewelry and accessories. This will be followed by an e-boutique which it plans to launch this fall. The boutique will be restricted to clients of the house who will receive an individual access code offering limited-edition, one-off items, and customizable products. They will also have access to personalized content and services designed to mirror the exclusive ambiance at the Schiaparelli salons.
In the meantime Schiaparelli is open to customers for the creation of bespoke clothes created by Daniel Roseberry.
