Ashley Graham launches plus-size wedding dress collection
Ashley Graham has designed an inclusive wedding dress collection with Spanish bridal fashion label Pronovias.
After releasing plus-size underwear and swimwear, the model, entrepreneur, and activist has made her foray into the bridal market. The collection comprises of 15 dresses – plus a tuxedo suit and is designed to ensure that every bride finds her perfect wedding dress. Varying between classic and evening wear each of the dresses are decorated with elaborate lace and are cut and crafted to guarantee the perfect fit. Additionally, there’s no need to hunt for underwear as in each of the dresses there’s shapewear and a built-in bra.
The impetus to launch a bridal collection came from her own negative experience of shopping for a bridal gown when she married videographer Justin Ervin back in 2010.
‘When I was looking for my wedding dress it took a really long time to find the right one, and even when I did find the right dress, it wasn’t the right size and it wasn’t going to be available for my wedding day,’ the 32-year-old recalls. ‘I was a size 16 at the time and I had to buy a size 10, and they had to put a whole panel in the back. I was spilling out of my top and my back, and it wasn’t the dress that I wished that I had. There is some regret there, and that’s why I’ve put a lot of my want and desire, and what I wish I had on my wedding day into these designs.’
Available in sizes 32 to 66 and priced between 1,000 and 3,500 euros the Ashley Graham x Pronovias collection will be available in Pronovias boutiques worldwide from April.
