David Laport celebrates 5 year anniversary with a Fashion exhibition
David Laport celebrated his fifth anniversary with the opening of a fashion exhibition Let’s Dance! at the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag, where his creations can be admired. A spectacular show was also held in Goes (a small city in The Netherlands from where the Dutch designer hails from) with 70 designs on display that summarized the past five years, including some new designs and new looks.
Laport made a mark on the industry and has achieved a large success in a short period of time. A Fashion Design graduate from the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague he presented his first collection in January 2014 at Amsterdam Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. In 2017 he won the prestigious Woolmark Prize in Milan. Laport received plenty of media coverage when he designed Solange’s bright yellow Met Gala dress in 2016 and Rihanna’s recent pink feather dress during the Crop Over festival (which was introduced during the opening show of Amsterdam Fashion Week in September 2018).
‘It is an honor to celebrate my five-year anniversary in Zeeland where I grew up and to be part of the Let’s Dance exhibition! in addition to a number of other highly valued designers,’ Laport said in a statement.
The Let’s Dance! exhibition is a collaboration with the Dutch National Opera & Ballet and looks back on the past five years of Laport’s career. On display are various creations by the designer including the famous pink feather dress that Rihanna wore. The exhibition will run until 12 January 2020.
