Carol Lim and Humberto Leon leave Kenzo after Eight Years
Carol Lim and Humberto Leon are stepping down as artistic directors of Kenzo after eight years.
The announcement was made by LVMH just days before Paris Fashion Week during which Lim & Leon’s Spring/Summer 2020 collection will be presented on June 23. The artistic duo who joined the brand in 2011 decided to step down so as to focus on Opening Ceremony, the store, and brand they founded in 2002.
‘After eight incredibly special years at Kenzo, we are passing the torch of that historic brand with great pride,’ Leon and Lim said in a press release. ‘We are thankful to our wonderful Kenzo team and the LVMH group for the opportunity to take forward [founder Kenzo] Takada’s groundbreaking legacy. We are excited to bring so many rich experiences and memories from our time at Kenzo to new frontiers.’
‘Humberto and Carol consistently brought diversity and inclusion to the forefront at Kenzo, using their collections, fashion shows, advertising, and special projects to engage and galvanize a new generation of creatives,’ Kenzo CEO Sidney Toledano said in a statement.
Lim & Leon’s last day will be July 1. LVMH has not yet named a successor but said it will make an announcement soon.
