Cara Delevingne Collaborates with Balmain on new Handbag Collection
Cara Delevingne has teamed up with Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing on a new handbag collection.
Inspired by Delevingne’s versatile style, the collection consists of three handbags Romeo and Twist (which launched on May 23) and BBag (which will be available in mid-July). Delevingne was even allowed to design the pieces and worked closely with Rousteing: ‘Once I saw Olivier’s ideas, I knew we were on the same page [and] that I only needed to give minimal feedback in order for it to be exactly what I had envisioned,’ she told Vogue.
Further inspiration came from ’80s biker gang aesthetics that was featured during the brands’ the Fall 2019 runway show and Olivier Rousteing’s great appreciation for Cara: ‘She’s got attitude; she is a troublemaker, and she doesn’t care. She’s defiant, but she is a paradox: She can be sweet and romantic too; she can be an angel, or she can be a devil. She cannot be categorized,’ he said of the model in a press release.
Priced between 1750 US dollars and 2395 US dollars, all of the bags are black, quilted with gold hardware and have a timeless-meets-trendy vibe. This is not the first time that Delevingne has tried her hand at designing handbags. She previously collaborated with Mulberry in 2014 on a line of convertible backpacks inspired by her tattoos.
