Gucci’s Pre-fall 2019 Lookbook features Snacks as Accessories
Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele tapped legendary director and screenwriter Harmony Korine to photograph its Pre-Fall 2019 lookbook.
Korine who is the director and screenwriter behind films such as “Kids” and “Spring Breakers” as well as Rihanna’s “Needed Me” music video is not unknown in the fashion world and has worked with Proenza Schouler and Dior before.
For Gucci’s Pre-Fall 2019 Korine lensed the lookbook on-site at the Italian ruin cities of Herculaneum and Pompeii. The models appear in the brand’s signature prints and exuberant colors while snacking away on all kinds of foods – from sweets and sandwiches to sports drinks and donuts.
For Gucci, the choice of location is part of an ongoing effort to support Italian cultural heritage. ‘Recounting the collection in these unique and inimitable places through the contemporary and unexpected gaze of the American artist, Gucci intends to preserve and promote these two ancient Roman cities, bringing their fascination and historical memory to the attention of new generations and an increasingly interactive audience,’ the brand said in a release.
The collaboration between Gucci and Harmony Korine will also be published next year as a limited-edition book.
