Brand of the Week: Avoc
Avoc is our ‘Brand of the Week’.
The label was established in Paris in 2013 by Laura Do and Bastien Laurent and presents a fashion intrinsically linked to the city of Paris, in tribute to its richness and diversity. Together they complement each other and share an approach to fashion, as one giant playground.
The label creates what it calls ‘Streetwear 3.0′- inclusive fashion for a gender-neutral future and its clothing is made of architectural lines, structured materials with references to decorative arts and popular culture. It also offers services of art direction, scenography, and interior design.
Avoc takes its name from the word Havoc (also a nod to the Mobb Deep rapper) and is a visual fusion of the designers’ backgrounds. The acronym AVOC stands for Architecture Vestimentaire & Ornement Corporel, French for ‘the architecture of clothing and the ornamentation of the body’.
The label is primarily monothematic and follows one theme that the founders work on from one collection to another while developing their aesthetics according to their moods. Their collections are always reflections of what they live, their state of mind, their position as a fashion brand in the industry.
Avoc is currently distributed in several stores in France, Japan, Italy, and Russia.
