Loewe publishes Literary Classics
Loewe has released a limited edition series of literary classics.
The Spanish fashion house collaborated with photographer Steven Meisel for the cover sleeves taken from his archive photographs which originally appeared in various editorials of Vogue magazine.
The collection consists of six different titles in hardback: Don Quixote (Miguel De Cervantes), Madame Bovary (Gustave Flaubert), Heart of Darkness (Joseph Conrad), Wuthering Heights (Emily Bronte), Dracula (Bram Stoker), The Picture of Dorian Gray (Oscar Wilde). Each book is printed in its original language and is entirely in the style of the fashion house.
The books were originally created as part of Loewe’s Fall/Winter 2018 advertising campaign and its pret-a-porter show in Paris. Creative director Jonathan Anderson was inspired by the literary classics and the books reaffirm the links between fashion and other cultural arts.
‘You do not have to stay away from the classics. By changing the cover you make it relevant,’said, Anderson. ‘That is what Loewe means to me: incorporating traditional elements into our work and making it relevant to the generation of today.’
The collection is available as a Box set priced at $590 through Loewe.com and the boutique on Mount Street in London.
