Balmain Debuts $40,000 Men’s Bomber Jacket
Balmain debuted its highy anticipated pre-fall 2018 men’s collection with an over-the-top crystal-embroidered jacket.
The jacket which retails for a whooping $40,000, took around two months to create and features the ‘Balmain Army’ slogan on the back. “When it was completed, it was like Christmas, it was like, ‘It’s done, it’s exactly what I wanted,'” Balmain’s creative director Olivier Rousteing told WWD.
The standout item which also makes for a perfect Christmas gift, is said to mirror the core elements in all the Balmain Women’s collections and Rousteing himself. ‘My approach was also what I want to wear myself next winter,’ he added.
Balmain’s first Men’s Pre-Fall collection consists of denim, jersey and knitwear thats full of glitz. Rousteing cites a ‘revolution’ in men’s fashion that enables the Fashion house to take more risks with its men’s collection and embrace ‘glamour without feeling ridiculous.’
