Emily Ratajkowski has been accused of plagiarism.

New York swim and ready-to-wear designer Lisa Marie Fernandez has accused the actress and model of copying two of her swimwear designs.

Ratajkowski had launched her own swimwear line Inamorata on November 16th and a day later, Fernandez filed a complaint. The designs in question are Inamorata’s Vulcan top and the Inamorata Cardiff swimsuit which have many similarities with LMF’s Leandra bikini and the Triple Poppy bathing suit.

According to Fernandez, both of her pieces have been in production for three years and she has a patent on 21 of its designs in Europe and Australia. In a summons letter, she demanded that Rataljkowski remove the two different designs from the shelves and gave Ratajkowski until November 22 to respond to the plagiarism claim.

So far there has been no official comment from Inamorata Swim. However, the Ratajkowski posted a ’90s era image of Christie Brinkley to the brand’s Instagram page with the comment: ‘Pinterested this photo over 2 years ago and made a sample of it over a year ago. We all tap into vintage inspirations.’

With the deadline for Inamorata Swim to respond having passed, it will be interesting to see how things play out.
