Taylor Hill, Anna Ewers and Imaan Hammam are British Vogue’s February cover stars.
The three models who are currently the most sought-after models of their generation, front the cover of the fashion bible which is conceived as a ‘Salute to the Model’. Lensed by French fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier, the trio are dressed in glamorous creations of Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello and were styled by Kate Phelan.
On the cover, they appear against a simple white background that makes their radiant looks stand out, the three beauties perfectly embodying the supermodel chic. Taylor Hill is dressed in a golden metallic look, Imaan sports a black party dress with sparkling polka dots, while Anna wears a sleeveless logo shirt. Inside the magazine, the trio pose nude in a black and white sultry image.
In their accompanying interview with the glossy, the models talk with Maya Singer about making their mark in the modern world.
Taylor and Imaan revealed that it wasn’t a straightforward path to the top of the fashion pile. ‘For years, I was trying to please everyone, starting with the fact that I was constantly straightening my hair,’ Hammam said. ‘Well, that was super-damaging, and after a while, I was like, ‘Uccch, I’ve got to chill out with this.’ So I started going to castings with my hair natural – big and frizzy. And that was when my career blew up.’
As for Taylor who’s career has reached new heights in the last year, her trajectory was convoluted, but for different reasons. ‘There’s always going to be that part of me that’s the girl who got scouted at 14. I was, like, the opposite of cool. Obsessed with Harry Potter. I had all this frizzy hair I didn’t know what to do with; I wore my sisters’ hand-me-downs, which I was too tall for, so nothing ever fitted. When this photographer saw me and told me I should model it wasn’t just me who was like, um, really? Even my parents thought – that guy’s insane.’
