Jackie Kennedy’s signature scent revealed
When it comes to Jackie Kennedy there isn’t a style icon as chic as she was.
The late first lady, who was the subject of last years Golden Globe nominated drama Jackie starring Natalie Portman, is remembered the world over for her exquisite sense of style.
But what is not so well known is her choice of perfumes that she used to wear every day. According to information from publicist Marie-Laure Fournier, the legendary style icon’s fragrance that completed her signature look was the Eau de Parfum “Lovely Patchouli 55” from the legendary House of Krigler.
The fragrance which was created in 1955 was gifted to her by Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis, just before they were to be wed. With a blend of patchouli flower, amber, bergamot and leather ‘Lovely Patchouli 55’ exudes an intensely spicy and soft elegance and takes two-and-a-half years to make till this day.
The Krigler dynasty has been around since 1879, which started when Berlin chemist Albert Krigler composed his own fragrance “Pleasure Gardenia 79” for his fiance. In 1909 he set up a fragrance atelier in the South of France and later, the Krigler family settled down in New York. Krigler passed away in 1954 and Ben Krigler, his 33-year-old great-great-grandson officially re-launched the house in the Plaza Hotel in 2008.
Krigler fragrances are available at the Plaza Hotel, Concourse Level, One West 58th Street, New York City; krigler.com.
