FKA twigs is the new face of Nike
FKA Twigs has been tapped by Nike for its latest campaign.
The 28-year-old singer was artistically involved in the campaign as women’s creative director and conceptualized, directed, performed and soundtracked the project titled ‘Do You Believe in More?’.
Twigs put together a cast of 12 incredible athletes to show how the power of modern movement defines sport as an important channel of expression. The athletes are English Gardner, Miles Chamley Watson, Chester Marthinus, Jay Kirton, LaTonya Swann, Lilty Letter, Madelyne Spang, Rithiely Pereira, Kaili Bright, Mishay Petronelli, Paloma CalmQuality and Saskia Horton.
‘When Nike first came to me with this project, I saw it as an opportunity to let young people know they have the power to become the best versions of themselves,’ she said in a statement. ‘It’s about what you do in fitness gear. To me they represent ‘modern movement,’ which I define as exploring any genre of sport without boundaries,’ she added.
Styled by Matthew Josephs and photographed by David Uzochukwu, the campaign images which were shot in Mexico feature the athletes wearing Nike gear with cut-outs and layers. To coincide with the campaign, Twigs released an eccentric, choreographed dance video in which her song “Trust In Me,” was used.
